I needed a new approach to advertising so I used scent marketing

Scent marketing can be a fun and effective approach to marketing. People respond well to things that satisfy their senses. Why not integrate this into your advertising strategy? If you can get potential customers to associate your product with a pleasant smell it can do wonders for your business. You can do this by sending out scented mailers, in store scent machines, or scented business cards.

Scented mailers are great because they are meant to be subtle and subliminal. Unless you are trying to showcase a certain fragrance then you need toned down scent systems to reach your audience. One great scent to use for these is that of lavender. It has some good properties and side effects including eased tension and reduced panic attacks. This is a subliminal message to the receiver of the mailer. They will associate your mailer with a pleasant smell. Scent systems like this can be powerful and effective, although results may not be immediate.

In store scent machines are great because customers that come in can relax and have a positive experience. Many studies have shown that stores with positive scents actually encourage customers to stay in the store longer and even purchase more. Creating a scent marketing strategy that will keep customers around your products longer is well worth it. Scent machines can regulate the amount of aroma that permeates the room and can distribute it evenly.

Business cards are much like the mailers. Scent systems that involve scented paper need to be sure not to be too strong. Otherwise this scent marketing strategy can backfire. Make sure you only have a subtle hint of the smell, but enough to be recognized.
