If they ask for the instrument
If your child asks for Santa or you to buy them a musical instrument for the Holiday gifting season then you would be wise to provide some outside help. I had bought my son a book and the note cards, and the instrument but without beginner guitar lessons they will most likely grow tired of it very fast. They might attempt to play yet won’t ever make music or sense very often without some kind of help. Only the very gifted who play by ear seem to be able to pick it up without the aid of an instructor or someone. I know even though I love it myself, I can’t read musical notes so I am lost.
