What Are Social Websites?
Social websites have taken the Internet by storm during the past few years. Sites such as as MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Digg, to name but a few, command a massive following, and not just from youngsters now, as more and more adults and senior citiziens (or whatever the PC terms is these days) are signing up and using them to keep in touch with family, friends, and people with similar interests.
But just what are social websites? What is it about them that makes them “social”?
Well, the key ingredient is the ability to interact with the site itself and with other members – you’re no longer just a reader, as you now have the ability to add content to the site that is instantly available to others as well.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, and they can suck up huge amounts of your time, they are here to stay.
